Res-Artis Conference

Supporting artists, sharing values and recognising the importance of working closely with colleagues across the visual arts, Acme has been actively involved in the CVAN London Steering Group since its inception in April 2020.

As part of Acme’s 50th Anniversary and this shared focus on collaboration and developing a fair, equitable and sustainable sector, Acme is pleased to be partnering with CVAN London to facilitate two workshops at Mind the Gap: Designing residencies for everyone this September.

Fairness and Value: Strategies for equitable collaboration will be delivered by studio sector colleagues East Street Arts on days 1 and 2, based on CVAN’s recent AREVA report and toolkits developed from its Fair + Equitable programme.

Since 1972, Acme has provided over 750 local and international artist residencies and awards alongside supporting over 8500 artists with long-term, affordable studios in London. This year, Acme is proud to deliver 50 opportunities for 50 years, as we listen, explore, research and plan for greater inclusivity and access to support for artists going forward.

Mind the Gap: Designing residencies for everyone (6-9 September 2023) will bring the international artist residency community together in the UK for the very first time, celebrating the 30th anniversary of Res Artis and 50 years of Acme.

This year’s event will help chart a future for impactful residency opportunities, with a focus on optimism and practical working solutions for issues facing the sector.

Taking place in London with live-streamed sessions, we will explore our post-pandemic and increasingly fragmented world. The conference will propose co-creation and collaboration as positive solutions to shared obstacles faced globally by residency providers and the artists they host.

In-person, online and one-day tickets are still available, with over 200 artists, residency providers and cultural mobility experts set to join us in London this September.
