Battersea Arts Centre

BAC is a vibrant south London venue, based in a Grade II* listed, former Town Hall building. Once home to the Suffragettes, the first black mayor of a London borough, the UK’s only ever communist MP, and saved from demolition in the 1970s by the local community, the venue has always been a place for activism, free speech and radical acts.

BAC delivers a range of projects designed to support artists, nurture young people, and empower our local communities. BAC enables international cultural exchange and connections, tackling global issues around social justice and equity. Inclusion underpins the organisation’s purpose and practice: tickets are all Pay What You Can, and a relaxed venue approach is promoted across the live contemporary programme.

BAC collaborates with artists whose practice spans live, visual and performance art and embraces experimentation and challenge, and were winners of the International Award at The 2024 Stage Awards. A suite of artist development programmes nurtures the next generation of creatives through commissions, international exchanges, platforming, networks and wrap around business development support. Through seasonal programming, some of the world’s most radical international performance artists are showcased in London, and we welcome an audience of UK artists who seek to be inspired in their own practice by this innovative work.

Today, this award-winning building is the go-to for boundary-pushing contemporary performance; a home to international artists and local communities alike, and widely recognised as one of the most innovative creative spaces in London.
