Jo Townshend is Director of CVAN London and Principal Partnerships Manager (Creative Industries) at UCL I&E.
Working at the interface of UCL research and the creative and cultural industries, Jo is responsible for identifying and developing strategic partnerships; she specialises in facilitating multi-disciplinary and interdisciplinary collaborations with the visual, virtual, performing and production arts.
Before joining UCL Jo was a creative consultant, drawing upon her experience as the founder Principal of a further education college for the creative industries, delivering traditional education in partnership with industry. As an artist specialising in painting and printmaking, she is interested in collaborative practice and contemporary arts pedagogy, and has worked in education since graduating from the Royal Academy of Arts. Her work appears in public and private collections.
Jo is a Founder of UCL Art Futures, Trustee of the RSA Academies Trust, Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and member of the Royal Academy Schools Alumni.
